YRS: Pupil Data Set

Rewired State and Young Rewired State were given access to the National Pupil Dataset, made available courtesy of The Department For Education over the weekend of July 7th – 8th, 2012. It’s not everyday you get to interview Michael Gove MP who was, at the time, The Education Secretary.  This video gives the viewer an overview of what was covered and discussed over the weekend.  This hack was based around the National Pupil Dataset, a vast and unique dataset that includes the anonymized national public exam results of around 600,000 English schoolchildren through key stages 2, 4 and 5. The Department for Education pre-released the dataset so that both they and the public could better understand it, and also wanted to identify any security risks or obvious stories in the data before public release.

Tips For Shooting Your Own Video

As a video maker I often get asked for tips on how to make better videos. We are all being encouraged to film footage for the web and for those who choose to shoot content themselves I hope this short video helps. It covers all the mistakes often made when you get hold of a camera and don’t know what you are doing. You may also like another video I made Shooting With A Webcam.

What is Collaboration Part 1of 2

I was asked to speak and run a workshop at New Art Exchange in June 2014  on the topic of “Collaboration” for Real Creative Futures.  I wanted to interview those who work out of The Centre for Creative Collaboration where I am an Artist In Residence about their experiences of working in collaboration with others. What it means to them and how it operated in their working practice. I split it into two half, you can see here What is Collaboration Part 2of 2.

Stabby Man

You may not know but I not only do I make video but I also work as an Artist and just one of the items I have made is Stabby Man.  Stabby Man is a very silly felt fabric man I made and sell on that site. You can stab Stabby Man in the underpants and his eyes will light up. Heart Man on the other hand is much sweeter, to get his eyes to light up all you need to do is squeeze his hand.
